Breast Feeding

Breast feeding, natures way of providing food for your newborn child, should be considered perfectly natural but unfortunately it has always been subject to fashion. The wavering popularity of breast feeding may be, in part, due to the, often controversial, $multi-billion advertising campaigns of baby milk formula of multi-national corporate's such as Nestle.

Unfortunately new mothers choosing to breast-feed thier baby may find that their hospital and it's nursing staff are unsupportive. Sometimes this is due to the maternity ward being such a busy place or that they are short staffed.

Nursing mothers need extra help in getting feeding established. Many young mothers have problems breast feeding and the help of the nurse is essential for both instructional and mental support. Most hospitals now try to ensure that the manursing staff on a maternity ward are qualified midwives. It is important to enquire about breast feeding and support at the antenatal stage.

We at the A to Z of believe breast feeding to be of extreme importance so we have collected together and written a series of articles that we hope will help you be sufficiently confident to give breastfeeding serious thought.

Below are a series of articles about various aspects of breastfeeding.
