Filters! You will be amazed at how many different types filters there are and how important they are to modern life. Maybe the most commonly known filters to the younger generation are the various web/Internet filters that restrict their viewing on the Internet (we will be taking a look at web filters in another article). However my main experience is in filters that are found in the home or workplace.

I have recently bought a bunch of water filters. Wonderful things, water filters, they really do something special to the water. OK they take out all the nasties, those stinky chemicals that don't sound too healthy but the immediate benefit to me was the improvement in the flavor of everything that I used the filtered water in. This was most evident in hot drinks such as tea and coffee. Not only did they taste vastly superior they looked better too.

Well I think you will already have a basic knowledge of how a filter works. As I have already mentioned they remove things - ie they "filter" them out. There are many things that need filtering and I have already mentioned water. However there are various types of water filter available. I use jug filters but I am considering getting one for the whole household water system. You will find out more about this by reading the articles below.

Take a look around your house or your workplace and you will see a number of different types of filter in operation. If you have a fish tank there will be a filter in that to keep the water healthy for the fish. Sinilarly, if you have a pond in your garden, this too will need a filter. You may have a computer which will have filters in the case to keep out the dust. You may even have a home filter to clean your air, removing smoke from smokers, doggy smellls and other things that might irritate you.

There are many more filters and the articles below look at them in finer detail. I will try to add some details about other filters at a later date but there is plenty below to keep you going for now.
