Constant Headaches
By Wendy Simons
A large number of people suffer from various forms of headaches. Sometimes these headaches occur on a constant basis. For the person who has constant headaches understanding the causes may be a way of stopping the headaches from re-occurring.
There are about 78% of people who suffer from constant tension headaches and a small number who are the victims of chronic migraines. For each of these individuals the treatment for their headaches must vary as the responses towards the medication is different with each individual.
In many cases the types of foods and drinks that are taken can be the causes of constant headaches. The main type of trigger is a chemical called aspartame. Various individuals who have a sensitivity to this chemical can get headaches due to the blood vessels in the brain expanding.
While caffeine based drinks are good for treating headaches too much of caffeine will cause an effect called rebound. This excess intake of caffeine is one source of constant headaches. People who suffer from constant headaches should avoid having caffeine drinks like coffee and certain sodas on a regular basis.
People can also get constant headaches because they may smoke too much of tobacco products. Likewise skipping meals can give rise to constant headaches. To avoid this situation it is best if all tobacco products are reduced drastically or eliminated altogether. Eating healthy meals on regular basis can prevent constant headaches as well.
As a great many of us know getting enough sleep is essential for the body. Individuals who suffer from tension headaches and constant headaches need to sleep for at least 8 hours in the night. They should also ensure that constant headaches are kept at bay by trying not to oversleep. Sometimes oversleeping can trigger constant headaches.
There is evidence that constant headaches can be aggravated by exposure to a lot of sunlight. Also when exercise is performed outdoors the sun causes the body to become dehydrated very quickly. Having plenty of water to drink and keeping the eyes shaded will reduce the possibility of getting constant headaches.
Constant headaches can also be caused by taking too much over the counter headache medication. Sometimes various individuals who live under a great amount of stress are subject to attacks of constant headaches. Finding ways to reduce the stress or taking anti stress medication can help to reduce the headaches. Talking with your doctor is one way of finding out what you can do for your constant headaches.
People who suffer from constant headaches can reduce the chances of succumbing to an attack by altering the way that they live. Sometimes a few simple changes are all that is needed. For instance if coffee is known to bring headache attack symptoms to life, then reducing one’s caffeine intake can help with stopping constant headaches. Changes like this are all that may be required.
