Adding Value to Your Home with Bathroom Remodeling
By Arthur Sneddon

If you live in a home that is more than ten years old, you probably know that bathroom remodeling is something that you will need to think about in the near future. Bathrooms are one of the areas of the house that get used every day so they experience a lot of wear and tear.

Bathroom remodeling can help to make your home look fresh and new again, getting rid of the wear and tear, but it can also update the home instantly. Resurfacing or replacing the bathtub and shower, painting or replacing cabinets, and repainting the walls are all great bathroom remodeling projects that will change the whole look and feel of your bathroom.

Affordable Bathroom Remodeling Ideas

If you know that bathroom remodeling is in your future because you need to sell your house or you just don’t want to cringe every time guests use your bathroom, you are probably worried about the cost of the project. Despite what many people will tell you, your bathroom remodeling project does not need to break the bank.

Instead, you need to prioritize and consider what really needs to be done and if you can still work with the fixtures and such that are still in the bathroom. If everything is structurally sound there are a lot of ways to cut corners but still end up with a finished product that you can be proud of.

A great way to kick off your bathroom remodeling project is to have your current bathtub or shower replaced, including any knobs or shower heads. Bathtubs do not have to be all that expensive, if you visit your home improvement center you will see that a new bathtub can easily be included in your bathroom remodeling budget.

If you don’t want to go through the time and expense of removing the old tub you can always choose to have tiles and porcelain tubs resurfaced. This is a process that will take an afternoon and will leave the bathtub and shower looking brand new and it will hold up well over time, too.

Another way to freshen the look of your bathroom is to replace your toilet. Toilets are like anything else that you use on a regular basis, they tend to wear out and not work quite as well over time. Replacing your current toilet with a brand new toilet is a good idea, though not one that is mandatory if you’re current unit is still working well. Simply replacing the seat is a good option though, and can cost less than $5 if you find the right bargain.

Replacing cabinets is a good bathroom remodeling project, though not mandatory. Simply painting or staining the cabinets will work to spiff up the place, and will hardly cost you anything. After you paint it is a good idea to replace the hardware on the cabinets as hardware usually dates cabinets and such quite a bit.

As you can see, bathroom remodeling doesn’t have to cost you a lot. You can make your current bathroom look as good as new in very little time if you just consider how you can use what you already have. Don’t be afraid to paint the walls a new color and accessorize after all is said and done to make the room a nice place to be.
