How Mediation and Yoga Can Improve Your Life
By Elizabeth Penning
The number one formula for a healthy and happy life is to exercise and eat healthy. However, in today’s day and age we find ourselves faced with a number of situations that induce stress. Combating stress requires at times more than just exercise and that is when meditation and yoga can step in and help.
The Power of the Mind
Yoga is an ancient practice, which originates in India; it was introduced by holy men who practiced meditation for days together in order to train their mind and body and achieve a sense of well being. Meditation and yoga works by training the mind to educate the body into following it and thus, obtaining the results you require such as, over all relaxation, well being and even exercise.
Meditation and yoga are both exercises, which can be done separately and combined. Combining them will result in achieving power over your mind and senses and while you separate them you will work with either your mind or your body. Meditation and yoga require a specific way of practice, position, music and precise following of the instruction in order to gain benefits from it. Therefore, if you are a beginner it is recommended to join a class where you can have a qualified instructor to teach you the right way to practice as well as other students to observe and exercise with.
Practicing meditation and yoga in group is usually stronger than practicing by yourself especially in the beginning when you need to be influenced by your surroundings in order to get the essence of the exercise. However, if for any reason you prefer to practice from the comfort of your home you can do that as well either by attending a live forum and practicing live online with others or by purchasing DVDs that will guide you to the right way of practicing meditation and yoga.
Helpful Tips
We all have worries and stress and the only way we can successfully combat this state of mind is by dealing with it as often as we have time for it. However, don’t make excuses for not practicing meditation and yoga but, make time at least three times a week and indulge in some time for your own well being.
If you are practicing meditation and yoga at home you will also need a yoga mat, comfortable clothes and well as yoga music; you can find all of the mentioned items in department stores in the sports department or in yoga centers. It is important you get the right outfit as well as create a suitable ambiance for practicing meditation and yoga, and the results will not take long to be noticed.
